An overview of the job of a Warehouse Manager:
A warehouse manager is a professional who plays a crucial role in the supply process for a company as manages the organization and implementation of storage, preservation and distribution of goods as per the requirements of the organization. They are responsible for overseeing the efficient storage and dispatch of a variety of goods which includes healthcare products, food, clothing and other household items. In order to achieve these operations they also supervise and manage other warehouse workers, systems and processes to ensure productivity targets are met by maintaining the administrative storage of the systems. Warehouse managers must also take care of the safety and health requirements of the workplace by taking the responsibility of securing the storage building.
Warehouse managers are intermediary professionals in the process of distribution and supply of goods and services as he supervises the packing, segregation, labeling and repacking of goods to avoid damage of the products during transportation. They are also involved in coordinating for the conveyance of goods from the warehouse to the required destination. In short, these managers are professionals who manage the day-to-day operations of a warehouse and majority of their duty is supervisory work. They report their activities and progress of the warehouse to the directors of the organization and complete their duties by delegating the work among the warehouse workers making sure that the work is completed on time.
These professionals may also be called upon to work during holidays and they are in fact the busiest person at the time of holidays and festive seasons. A warehouse manager is constantly on his toes organizing demands within fixed schedules and limited resources. He is accountable for the safety requirements inside a warehouse or if the goods are stolen at the time of their storage period. In large organizations, warehouse managers often work with the help of a group of workers and other personnel’s who help them with the distribution, packing and unpacking activities.
